Lavender Isle Rapid Transit (LIRT)

Well guess what? We have a rapid transit system (monorail) on Lavender Isle.

I’ve been thinking about it for the past week and did some research on the project. I liked the idea and they weren’t all that expensive, but I was still undecided. I headed off to Skyrider Systems and met with the owner Krell Shinohara. He’s a really nice man and spent a whole lot of time with me showing various systems; I think I rode them for over an hour, and answering my onslaught of questions. I saw so many different types and even one that went underwater. So Kewl!

After talking to Krell and having him visit Lavender Isle to give me his thoughts and an estimate, I decided to go ahead and hence “Lavender Isle Rapid Transit” (LIRT) was born.

Krell spent most of Sunday building the cars and track and that part is done. He was back Monday to work on it and it looks like is should be complete today. Just the sub stations to finish.

We decided to go with a clockwise track running through the major districts of Lavender Isle and best part? Between the marina and business district, the monorail will travel underwater. Now that is kewl. From the marina, it heads towards the ocean and descends down underneath the water and travels along the beach. I put in a few fish and stuff to have a look at when you’re down there. Also, I added a deep water warning sign (because we had to make it deeper to accommodate the monorail) and a couple buoys. It comes up from the ocean just in front of the Lavender office before stopping at the first station (Thump STN).

I know, I’m jumping all over. Lol. Krell and I talked about theme and decided to continue with the Mexican/tropical theme of the sim. The monorail posts right now are peachy stucco and the coach you ride in is green, styled after a Mexican subway car. The coach is pretty kewl too. When you get in, the doors close before it moves and when it comes out of the ocean, the wipers start up to clean the windshield. Now that’s amazing.

From Thump STN, it’s a short straight jaunt down to GIA STN. This is the stop for Gia’s Cabaret, Hall of Fame and White Dahlia. From Gia’s, the LIRT makes a turn and angles across the canal toward the shopping district and turns to run along Lavender Drive, stopping at the AFS STN which is situated between AFS Flexiwear and So Intimate. Off to the end of the drive and a right turn along the edge of the residential district before stopping at the next station Tresses STN and across the street, the Lavender Isle Rapid Transit offices where you can purchase tickets (free) or look at the schedule (??). The LIRT then continues on before making a right turn into the marina area and finally a left turn and through a tunnel to end up back at the Marina STN. Quite a ride, huh!

Still lots to do with the addition of the LIRT. I've been working on platforms at the stations. Seating and space for advertising would be kewl, but I’ll have to see as it’s not that high and I don’t want to interfere with the look of everything else. But it is so kewl to have the LIRT.

Thank you so much Krell and Skyrider.

Trella has been involved with set up and organizing a new sim for the past while and it culminated with the opening this past weekend of Cherry Creek. It’s an equestrian type sim with horses and stables and a whole lot else along that line. I was there for the opening ceremonies and for EmberMoon’s performance. Traffic was in the high 8000’s, so great job Trella.

Silhouettes in the Dark plans are coming along. I’m pretty much ready, and Pulse Point sent out some press releases. We got a write up on ireport that you can check out if you like.
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-39918. Outfits have been delivered to gypsy wave and now just the waiting part. Lol. Since I got restless, I built a new fashion center to house fashion shows. It’s got a walk around runway, fountains, birds of paradise and looks simply amazing. I’ll wait till after this show before I put it up though. I hate to disrupt what is there now.

We have three residential tenants on the island now. Tracy Serra has a 2048 lot on the SE corner, Greta Dochery has a 2048 lot on the SW corner and Partyhard Dowd and Incognito Dayafter have a 2048 lot next to Greta. Welcome home.

This week at Gia’s is Allister Westland. He put on a fantastic performance last time he was here. It was live as live gets and had me jumping up and down. Make sure you pop on down because he is something to see. Also, we’ll be picking our winner for June in the Gia’s In Vogue fan of the month contest.

New clothes are going up weekly at So Intimate and AFS Flexiwear. I’m featuring the new items in the blog on the stores pages so you can see them here first.

Other than that, it’s a typical busy week in sl.

Ciao for now

Jenny
